He recalled the early reviews starting strong before shifting, then offered a simple take: “If you love it, great. If you don’t, no problem.” What mattered most to him was representation. Johnson said “the culture really stood up” and that kids can now look at the screen and say, “That’s us for the first time.” Representation has value.
