Rather than execute him, Genghis Khan recruited him on the spot, because a man who could shoot that well and fight that hard was worth more alive and loyal than dead and wasted. Subutai, arguably the greatest field commander of the entire Mongol conquest, came from a family of blacksmiths with no noble blood at all. In an era when every throne in Europe and Asia handed out command by birthright, a herder’s son could rise to general under the Khan purely by winning. Compare that to how modern states fill their top jobs. Cabinet posts go to donors and party loyalists. Central bank seats go to whoever spent the most years inside the right university-to-government pipeline, never to whoever priced risk best. Regulatory agencies get run by people who never built or ran the thing they now regulate. Competence is optional, connections are not. A thirteenth-century warlord on the steppe figured out that results should decide who leads. Governments with access to every tool of modern administration still cannot manage it. The market punishes incompetence with bankruptcy. The state rewards it with a bigger office and a longer tenure.

I wish Gengaman would always copy over the spacing charts from the LO/Corrections when doing Genga... It's a huge pain in Douga if you have to double check if you can trust the genga or refer to the LO for them (or redo work bc you discover them once you already started...)
