Giant panda cub Wang Shu celebrated her first birthday at Chongqing Zoo on Sunday in southwest China’s Chongqing. Born weighing just 188 grams, Wang Shu now weighs 36.5 kilograms.

Giant panda Ai Bao (also known as Hua Ni) at Everland Resort, the largest theme park in South Korea, gave birth to a female cub weighing over 170 grams on June 3, the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda said on Wednesday. She is the fourth cub born to Ai Bao since the 15-year China-South Korea giant panda conservation and research cooperation program began in 2016 and also the first cub born this year to any of the Center's giant pandas living overseas.

A new giant panda facility at Beijing Zoo was put into use on Wednesday. Covering an area of 13,000 square meters, the facility features four indoor exhibition halls, five animal enclosures and five outdoor activity areas, providing a more comfortable habitat for the giant pandas. Beijing Zoo is currently home to 10 giant pandas, with half of them having moved into the new facility.
