I often hear folks say, “Donald Trump sent me a check during the pandemic.” I want to make sure you understand this: Congress sent you a check. By the way, Joe Biden also sent you a check during the pandemic, just like I gave people relief during the Great Recession. The difference is that we didn’t put our names on it – because it wasn’t about feeding our egos or advancing our politics, it was about helping people. So don’t be giving him credit for that. And don’t give him your vote, either. There’s only one candidate in this election who cares about you, and that’s Kamala Harris.

Notes like this are the best part about starting a company: Hello Brian & Dharmesh,  I joined HubSpot in March 2013 as one of the early DubSpot team and after 13 incredible years this is my last month. Many times I've heard Brian talk about building a company that your grandkids can be proud of. I am writing this email partly to give you an insight into the incredible impact you've had on my life and partly because I imagine it is difficult for your family to appreciate the impact HubSpot has had on so many like me. I hope you share this with your family.  I joined HubSpot at 26 yrs old as a Level 1 Sales Rep. I was early in my sales career, highly motivated and eager to learn. HubSpot gave me an opportunity I couldn't have imagined and I didn't fully appreciate until later. I worked hard, learnt fast and chased targets. I moved to Manager and later moved to Sales Director. In January 2014, Nisha Anand joined as a Level 1 Support Rep. We met, fell in love and got married. She also worked hard, learnt fast and chased promotions. She is now a Principal Solutions Engineer on UK Corp.  Financially HubSpot has transformed our lives but it is more than that. Our friends are HubSpotters. At our Wedding there were tables of HubSpotters. There are family and friends in Leitrim and Belfast that still cannot explain what HubSpot does but they follow it in the news, check the stock price and ask us "what's happening at the big American company?". HubSpot is part of our life story. At every step of our lives HubSpot has been there:  - We timed our Wedding so we could take our sabbaticals for our Honeymoon.  - We sold HUBS shares to buy our first home - When Covid hit we continued progressing our careers working from home - We used tuition reimbursement to up-skill and learn at Harvard, UCD and Oxford. - We used the Temporary Mobility policy to work from London for 1 month during fertility treatment. It worked and we got pregnant. - When our twins girls arrived 10 weeks early and spent a month in hospital, HubSpot supported us. I had 6 weeks for Paternity leave plus used my 2nd sabbatical to be there for my family - My wife took 12 months of maternity leave plus her 2nd sabbatical and returned to continue progressing her career and recently triggered another promotion. - We sold HUBS again to move into a bigger home. My father tells me that I have spent one third of my working career at HubSpot. It is almost impossible to explain the impact HubSpot has had on my life. What an amazing company. I hope you and your family are incredibly proud of what you have built. For the rest of my life I will be grateful to you and HubSpot. Wishing you and your family all the best in the future.

MrBeast just issued an ultimatum to the entire airline industry. He will only fly on planes with Starlink. MrBeast: “Oh, this has an extra one hour layover, I don’t give a fuck. They’re Starlink.” Not a preference. A hard filter. Longer flights. Worse routes. None of it matters. MrBeast: “Bro, I’ll sit in the back of the plane if it gives me Starlink. Like I really don’t care.” Most people hear that and think it’s about a content creator who can’t unplug. They are completely missing what is actually happening. MrBeast runs the largest media operation on Earth from a phone screen. He measures friction in frames and milliseconds. In his world, connectivity isn’t a feature. It is the operating layer beneath every decision he makes. And he will accept the worst seat on the aircraft to stay plugged into infrastructure that didn’t exist five years ago. But the airline cabin is the smallest part of this story. The real shift happens where the asphalt ends. MrBeast: “You can put a Starlink on the top of your car.” They mounted a dish on a roof in rural Africa. Four hours down dirt tracks and grass roads. No cell towers. No grid. No infrastructure of any kind. Perfect signal the entire ride. MrBeast: “Starlink is like literally magic. It makes no sense.” It makes perfect sense once you see what Musk is actually building. Not a utility company. Not an ISP. He is collapsing the distance between a human thought and the full width of human knowledge to zero. Everywhere on Earth. Simultaneously. For ten thousand years, intelligence was local. A brilliant mind born in an unconnected village had no way to reach the collective. No way to build on what came before. No way to be found. The potential didn’t die. It simply never ignited. Starlink changes that at the level of the species. MrBeast: “What will definitely, guaranteed happen is no matter where you are on the planet, you’ll be able to have high-speed internet thanks to Starlink.” That is not a convenience upgrade. It is a phase shift in what a human born anywhere on Earth can become. Every child with a connection inherits the full intellectual output of civilization the day they open a screen. We are not upgrading a network. We are converting a planet of isolated minds into a single thinking surface. MrBeast: “There’s no doubt that it’s going to fundamentally progress humanity in unfathomable ways.” And the loop closes with the real objective. The revenue from a billionaire rerouting his flights feeds the exact same engine that funds the frontier. MrBeast: “Someone’s going to go to Mars thanks to SpaceX. Like I really do believe that.” Starlink is not a side project. It is the funding mechanism for the most expensive physical objective in human history. A constellation of satellites harvesting the economic attention of an entire connected planet and converting it into the propellant required to push consciousness beyond Earth. The species is funding its own escape velocity. We spent ten thousand years separated by geography and copper wire. Musk didn’t fix the wires. He made them irrelevant. And in doing so, he didn’t just connect a species. He built one that no longer fits on a single planet.

Spencer Pratt on LA’s drastic NGO problem: “They will take $100M and steal it right in your face.” David Friedberg: “Can you explain what goes on with these NGOs? Like, how do NGOs create a system that the more we spend, and in the last 10 years, the City of Los Angeles, I think, has increased homeless spending by 10X, and the homeless population has doubled, and clearly it's gotten a lot worse. What's the role that the NGOs actually play in this?” Spencer Pratt: “First off, when you said homeless is 2x, homeless is 200x. When Mayor Bass in the debate was like, “It's down 17%,” these are the most cooked numbers. Even the RAND Corporation says it's a 30% increase. But they just drive around and they go, “One, two, three, four, five, six.” They're not going in under these encampments, and bridges, and bushes, and unzipping these tents, and going into the sewers. So we don't even know the count. But let me tell you my first experience with NGOs. After the Palisades fire, FireAid, $100 million raised. Every single person I talked to messaging me, “No one's getting this money. No one's seeing a dollar.” I go to Washington, I ask senators to investigate this. We open up a case. Now all of a sudden, FireAid puts out a legal letter to defend themselves. In their own legal letter from the law firm, they say, “Several of these NGOs gave directly to fire victims.” The list for the $100 million is 200+ (NGOs). Google “several.” It's under 10. So even in their defense, they're telling you, and again, I don't believe one of those, 10 gave directly. The people that they said did, they're like, “We gave gift cards.” Who'd you give gift cards to?
