As close neighbors across the sea, China and Brunei have long been connected by the ancient Maritime Silk Road, which brought the two peoples together through trade, culture, and friendship.
This year marks 35 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Ang Kai Lip, a participant in the 12th Peking University Oriental Scholarship Program on Governance, shares how his journey to China became a story of reconnecting with heritage and building mutual understanding. From recognizing China’s rapid development to understanding the governance logic and strategic policies behind that development, Ang’s experience reflects the warmth of people-to-people exchange. Through dialogue, learning, and shared stories, the bridge between China and Brunei continues to grow stronger.
