From May 17 to 25, the 2026 "Harvard Deep Dive in China—Peking Univ." program brought students from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) across Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guizhou for an immersive journey through contemporary China.
Across factories, classrooms, laboratories, historic landmarks, and mountain valleys, the journey unfolded into a multidimensional exploration of contemporary China. Through conversation, observation, and shared experiences, participants encountered a country far more diverse, dynamic, and layered than any single narrative could capture.

After exploring cutting-edge innovation in Shenzhen, the next stop of the "Harvard Deep Dive in China – Peking Univ." program brought participants to Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province.
For William, the city's charm came from the combination of old and new: centuries of history, vibrant local traditions, and a modern city full of energy.
