One year later, a black sho*ter who k*lled a white teen while “playing a game” with a stolen gun is STILL getting the soft treatment.
Keyshaun Davis, then 20, took his mother’s 9mm handgun and joined Deegan Kirschke and two others in a contest to see who could take the weapon apart and put it back together the fastest.
Davis fired the gun. The bullet struck 17-year-old Kirschke in the abdomen and k*lled him. Davis told police it was a game.
Prosecutors charged Davis with involuntary mansla*ghter, child endangerment causing de*th, and reckless discharge of a firearm. They did NOT charge him with m*rder. A judge released him pretrial.
One year on, there is no indication the case has been upgraded or resolved with a serious sentence.
In a justice system that often treats the race of the perpetrator and victim as relevant to charging decisions, this outcome fits a familiar pattern.
