Kojima Productions' OD | talking about OD and Screenshot
"I wanted to do something new. I wanted to do something different," he says. "I had this OD concept since I was working on DS1 [Death Stranding] and I was working on it just by myself. I can't reveal much detail, but it's something that no one has ever seen before. A new game system."
"I pitched to many people, to the big companies, and also to the up-and-coming companies. All of them said the same thing," Kojima recalls. "They said that I'm crazy, and that they really don't understand the concept — that they will not be able to do it.
Kojima expertly teases, "I wanted to go beyond the limit of the 'scariness' that other games had reached. It's a single-player game, and I wanted to make it as scary as possible. But for those that might stop playing when it gets too scary, I have thought of a system that will allow them to keep going. I can't say much more, because it'll give too much of a hint on the system, and I could get in trouble for saying too much!"

Hideo Kojima posted new official art for PHYSINT.
The poster shows Bill Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser and lists Don Lee and Minami Hamabe. The tagline is “The Next Cold War Begins.” Credits name Kojima for scenario, production, game design, and direction, and Yoji Shinkawa for character and mechanical design. Xbox and MetaHuman logos appear on the poster.
A second image from Kojima Productions and Xbox shows the same four-person cast under the line “A Hideo Kojima Game.”
Kojima confirmed Skarsgård as the lead. PHYSINT is an action-espionage game from Kojima Productions, now published by Xbox.

Windows Central claims Xbox is paying only a fraction of the rumored $400 million for Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT.
According to Jez Corden, sources with direct knowledge of the contracts said that the $400 million figure being reported may actually have been the amount Sony/PlayStation could have been on the hook for before its deal was cancelled.
Corden says Xbox and Kojima Productions are instead working with a “fraction” of that figure.
Playstation would spend that on concord 3

According to Paul Tassi, Sony no longer working with Kojima on PHYSINT means Kojima Productions has reportedly lost access to Sony’s Decima engine.
Both Death Stranding games were built with Decima, a graphics engine considered one of the best and central to the look and tech of Kojima games. They will have to switch to UE or one of the engines Xbox has.
There’s unconfirmed information that Sony/PlayStation made multiple attempts to acquire Kojima Productions, but Hideo Kojima repeatedly turned them down, including the latest offer.
If they lost access to Decima, PHYSINT could take even more time to develop while they work on another engine.
