On August 1, 1924, Koshien Stadium opened in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. Modeled after the Polo Grounds, the home stadium of the New York Giants at the time, it was a mammoth stadium with 50,000 seats and a total capacity of 80,000.
