At Money20/20 Asia @money2020 in Bangkok, our CEO Anna Liu delivered a keynote with a clear message: tokenisation in Asia is moving into a more institutional phase. 1️⃣ Asia is moving from pilots towards broader adoption Across Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, clearer regulatory frameworks and more practical market infrastructure are beginning to take shape. 2️⃣ Institutional tokenisation starts with discipline It begins with standardised, regulated and in-demand products such as money market funds and ETFs. 3️⃣ Liquidity and compliance are part of the core design Success requires more than technology. It depends on the right assets, licensed distribution channels, settlement infrastructure, legal enforceability and regulatory alignment from the outset. Over time, the market is likely to be shaped by participants that think in ecosystems, not silos.

The best payment infrastructure is often invisible. At @money2020 Asia, Leon Chua, Head of APAC & VP of OSL BizPay, explained the “stablecoin sandwich”: businesses pay in local currency, recipients receive in local currency, while stablecoins power the cross-border layer in between.
