🧵 7 Golden Lessons from Investing Legend Peter Lynch Apply these wisely, and they could change your investing game forever. 👇 1️⃣ Leverage Your Personal Edge Use your job, hobbies, or industry knowledge. This insight can reveal opportunities the market hasn’t noticed yet. 2️⃣ Stories > Numbers The market often pays for a good story, even if numbers lag temporarily. In volatile times, stick to the long-term narrative you believe in. 3️⃣ Investing is a Numbers Game Out of 10 companies you research, maybe 1 is worth investing in. The more you dig, the higher your chances of finding great companies. 4️⃣ Long-Term Returns Come from Profits Watch the news short-term, but judge companies long-term by their earnings and the gap between valuation and fundamentals. 5️⃣ Categorize Before You Invest Lynch splits companies into: Fast Growers, Turnarounds, Asset Plays, Stalwarts, Cyclicals, and Slow Growers. Each needs a different strategy. 6️⃣ Ignore Macro Noise Economic predictions are hard and waste time. Focus on company research instead of guessing economic cycles. 7️⃣ Avoid “Dark Horse” Fantasies Don’t be fooled by rare success stories and ignore the majority that failed. Stable companies are less exciting but safer. 💡 Bottom line: You don’t need Wall Street to win. With patience + deep research + rational judgment, you can outperform many professionals. 🏆 #Investing# #PeterLynch# #StockMarket# #Wisdom#

peter lynch averaged around 29.2% a year for thirteen years running magellan. this is his single filter for whether you should own something. "if you can't explain to a ten-year-old in two minutes or less why you own a stock, you shouldn't own it." "i'm amazed how many people own stocks they would not be able to tell you why they own it. if you really press them down, they'd say , the reason i own this is the sucker's going up." "and that's the only reason they own it." "if you want a piece of crap like that, you will never make money. somebody will come along with more whetstones or less whetstones, or a bigger megaflop or a smaller megaflop, and you won't have the foggiest idea what's happened." "i made money in dunkin donuts. i could understand it. when there were recessions i didn't have to worry, i could go there and people were still there. i didn't have to worry about low-priced korean imports." "i made 10 or 15 times my money in dunkin donuts."

in october 1987 peter lynch was in ireland playing golf when his fund went from $12 billion to $8 billion. he'd left on a thursday night. the market fell 55 points that day. friday it fell 112, and because of the time difference he only found out after his round. "i said to carolyn , if the market goes down on monday, we're going to have to go back." monday it fell 500 points. "and that gets your attention. in one or two working days, i said, by the end of this week i'd have no fund." "there wasn't a lot i could do. because of the time difference, by twelve o'clock in ireland it was still seven o'clock in new york. so we played a round of golf in the morning." "i think my shareholders called up and said, what's lynch doing? and they said, well, he's on the sixth hole. he's even par so far, but he's in a trap, this could be a triple bogey." "i don't think that's exactly what they wanted to hear." he came back and, in his words, suffered with everybody else. the closing detail is the one worth keeping. over his thirteen years at magellan the market fell nine times, and magellan fell all nine.

Here is a video of famous investor Peter Lynch talking about dealing with pullbacks in the Stock Market
THE NASDAQ 100 BRIEFLY FELL INTO A CORRECTION TODAY BEFORE BOUNCING BACK Peter Lynch once explained why moves like this shouldn't scare long-term investors "The market's had 50 declines of 10% or more. So 50 declines in 93 years, about once every 2 years the market falls 10%. We call that a correction." He said 15 of those declines were 25% or more, about one bear market every 6 years. "You need to know the market's going to go down sometime. If you're not ready for that, you shouldn't own stocks. And it's good when it happens." "If you like a stock at 14 and it goes to 6, that's great. 14 to 22 is terrific. 6 to 22 is exceptional." He also said you don't have to rush. Investors who waited 10 years after Walmart $WMT went public in 1970 still made more than 30 times their money, by his math.
