The office printer at my job jams every single time a specific coworker, Reyansh, tries to use it, and only him, a pattern so consistent that IT eventually just gave up troubleshooting it as a coincidence.
"It's not personal," the IT guy told him, the fourth time he'd been called down for the exact same jam. "Machines don't have preferences."
"This one does," Reyansh said, dead serious, staring at the printer like it had wronged him personally.
I didn't think much of it until I noticed he was the only person in the office who consistently loaded paper the wrong way, upside down, against the little diagram taped right there on the tray, every single time, for reasons nobody could explain including him.
"You've seen the diagram," I said, showing him for maybe the tenth time.
"I have seen it," he agreed. "I don't understand it. I've never understood it. In my last job someone else always loaded the paper."
Turns out he'd worked in a much smaller office previously where he'd simply never once had to do this task himself, and four years into his current job, too embarrassed to ask directly, he'd just been guessing wrong on a coin flip basis every single time.
I showed him properly, slowly, like teaching an actual child, and the jams stopped completely within a week.
He still blames the printer sometimes, out of habit, mostly as a bit now. The printer, for what it's worth, has never once jammed on him again.
