A 24-year-old woman became stranded near the river’s flow area along the Neelkanth Road in Rishikesh on Saturday. SDRF personnel reached the spot and carried out a rope rescue after finding her unable to climb back safely. #WATCH# | Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami says, "Workers inside the tunnel under construction on the Birhi River near Pipalkoti were struck by a sudden influx of mud and debris following a landslide-like event from above. Consequently, some people were trapped inside; so far, 18 individuals have been rescued. Some of the rescued are injured and have been admitted to the hospital in Pipalkoti. They are receiving treatment there, and we have also consulted higher-level medical centers. Preparations are in place here in Rishikesh as well; arrangements have been made for emergency heli-lifts or transfer to the Base Hospital in Srinagar if needed. Three or four individuals have sustained more serious injuries, and they are all undergoing treatment. Our priority is to rescue everyone as quickly as possible. Teams from the NDRF, SDRF, district administration, local police, Health Department, and Disaster Management are all on-site." "I spoke to the injured workers admitted to the Pipalkoti hospital; their condition is stable. I have also informed the Chief Ministers of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh that their citizens—those injured or involved in the incident—are receiving treatment here.
