There is truly something remarkable happening on @solana with exotic assets/longtail assets that I think is the truest example of how internet capital markets expands the TAM of finance Collector crypt, phygitals, gacha sports et al are directly contributing to the boom in Pokemon & sports cards Beezie is bringing luxury handbags & fashion as well as cardboard We have watches, fossils, hot wheels, domain names, whiskey, tickets, olive oil, maple syrup and more now or coming soon Within each of these categories, you have an incredible value prop for crypto: - Aggregated global supply & liquidity improves discoverability for niche communities - Tokenization & vaults contributes to trading being more marginally profitable, no need to ship and settle constantly - Lending lets owners borrow USD against their assets, contributing to less perpetual sell pressure - Liquid global markets improve price discovery, meaning people can own at fair value instead of getting gauged in shows and auctions (and pay significantly less fees) - Fractionalization expands buyer audience from 1 needle in haystack buyer to many retail constituents making directional bets There's still a ton of untapped opportunities here, probably representing hundreds of billions in TAM. Have yet to see robust plays in art, or exotic cars, or wine, stamps and coins. The list goes on. If you're building in exotic categories on any chain I would love to hear from you.
