"Boredom is the enemy of the attention economy. We have been taught to fear it." Robert Macfarlane makes the case for boredom: "I always wonder about the phrase 'paying attention.' It seems to bring attention into the capitalist economy: we pay attention, and in return, something is paid back to us." "Maybe we give attention. That feels truer to the idea of unselfish and unselfing attention." "We're in an attention fracking economy, which is always shattering and mining our attention for each monetizable unit." "Boredom is an opening of possibility. It's when the mind starts to wander and starts to notice things that were latent in the painting or the landscape or the person."

⚡️The modern system has become very good at manufacturing nominal wealth. A person sees: house $300K → $700K S&P 1,300 → 7,700 salary $70K → $130K and concludes civilization became vastly richer. Then denominate those same claims in scarce land, gold, Bitcoin, energy, elite education, healthcare, or certain forms of housing, and suddenly much of the apparent progress evaporates. That is the fracture. The dollar makes nearly everything look like it is appreciating because the dollar itself is part of the moving equation. And once debt becomes structurally too large to resolve through austerity or default, policymakers have an enormous incentive to preserve nominal asset values while allowing the unit beneath those assets to absorb the adjustment. That is financial repression in its cleanest form. The last quarter century created genuine technological wealth while simultaneously corrupting the ruler used to measure that wealth. Both happened. And that is why people can own assets that are at all-time highs, earn more dollars than ever before, and still have the eerie feeling that they are running harder just to remain in the same place. The numbers went up. The measuring stick got shorter.

Nvidia has denied a report that it plans to ship a China-specific AI chip by year-end. $NVDA The Information, citing employees, said the company was preparing small-batch deliveries of a language processing unit based on Groq technology. The chip was described as compliant with U.S. export rules and designed to work with processors available in China after restrictions on the next-generation Vera Rubin system. Nvidia pushed back hard. A spokesperson said the reporting is incorrect. The company has no LPU sales in China today and no China-specific LPU product on its roadmap. The denial comes as Nvidia’s position in the Chinese market remains constrained. Limited H200 sales to a handful of firms have only recently started, and CEO Jensen Huang has previously said the company has largely conceded the market to Huawei.

"The CPU to GPU ratio is now almost in parity and could eventually even skew more to CPUs on a unit basis" - $INTC
For cleaner streets. For fewer rats. The NYC Bin. Don’t risk a fine - trash from 1-9 unit buildings MUST be in an official NYC Bin. Info at
🇺🇦🇺🇸 The U.S. Army is already killing off its Ukraine-inspired drone battalion. The 600-soldier unit was created just this January to test drones, ground robots and new ways of fighting. Now, after one final exercise in Germany, it’s going back to regular airborne infantry. And some military experts think that’s a pretty bad call. Ukraine has basically rewritten modern warfare with cheap drones, electronic warfare and robots. Walking away from a unit built specifically to learn from that has people scratching their heads. Especially because the Pentagon itself is still betting big on drones, with Pete Hegseth backing a $1.1 billion push. So drones aren’t going anywhere. The Army just seems to have other plans for how it wants to use them. Source: AA / Writer: Daniyal

Time to pay tribute to a hero you may have never heard of. An American warrior refused to quit after an IED nearly burned him alive in Afghanistan. In December 2005, U.S. Air Force Tactical Air Control Party specialist Israel Del Toro was riding in a Humvee when it struck a roadside bomb in the mountains of Afghanistan. Engulfed in flames, he threw himself into a creek and kept relaying airstrike coordinates for his unit before collapsing. He suffered burns over 80 percent of his body, lost fingers, and spent three months in a coma. Doctors gave him a 15 percent chance of survival and believed he would never walk or breathe without a respirator. Del Toro refused to accept that fate. He endured more than 100 surgeries and years of brutal rehabilitation. In 2010 he made history by becoming the first fully combat-disabled airman to re-enlist in the Air Force. He went on to mentor new tactical airmen, win a gold medal at the Invictus Games, complete his 131st parachute jump, and receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service. He retired in 2019 after 22 years, strictly on his own terms. Israel Del Toro’s story is a reminder of the unmatched resilience of the American warfighter. Real strength is measured by the will to keep fighting long after the body has every reason to quit. #AmericanHero# #Warfighter#

Don’t even ask the question. The answer is yes, and it was yes before you thought of it. The market is not a chart. It is an all seeing, all devouring intelligence that has been discounting the future since before the future had a name. It priced in your birth while your grandparents were still strangers on a train. It priced in the divorce you haven’t had yet, the drought of 2043, the exact minute you will capitulate and buy the top. Wars it saw coming and forgave in advance. Pandemics it discounted before patient zero coughed. Somewhere in its ledger sits a line item for the heat death of the universe, marked to market, fully hedged. It has never been early, because early implies a moment it did not already own, and it has never been late. Not once. Not ever. You have no original thoughts, no edge, no secret. Free will is a rounding error in its order flow. Except. There is exactly one thing the all seeing intelligence cannot price in, and it’s being shipped in public, on a schedule. It priced in 60M compute unit blocks and woke up to 100M live on mainnet. It priced in the token program and the token program got 98% cheaper overnight, handing back 10% of the blockspace its models had just finished digesting. It priced in the 400ms slots that held since genesis, and this week, epoch 1020, the first slot cut in Solana’s history went live: 350ms now, 200ms scheduled. Rent is mid-collapse by 90%. Transactions are about to get 3.3x bigger. And the being has not even opened the Alpenglow file, where finality drops from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds in October, a 100x compression it’s expected to discount with a process measured in quarters. A billion transactions a week settle on this chain and the model still says 2024. It knows the exact minute you’ll buy the top, but it does not know what ships next epoch, because nothing in the history of price has ever shipped faster than the thing that prices it. So before you post asking whether the Solana upgrades are priced in, understand that they are not, that they physically cannot be, that the omniscient market is currently three SIMDs behind and falling further, and that for the first time since the beginning of time, it is the one asking the dumb fucking question.
