⚡️The modern system has become very good at manufacturing nominal wealth. A person sees: house $300K → $700K S&P 1,300 → 7,700 salary $70K → $130K and concludes civilization became vastly richer. Then denominate those same claims in scarce land, gold, Bitcoin, energy, elite education, healthcare, or certain forms of housing, and suddenly much of the apparent progress evaporates. That is the fracture. The dollar makes nearly everything look like it is appreciating because the dollar itself is part of the moving equation. And once debt becomes structurally too large to resolve through austerity or default, policymakers have an enormous incentive to preserve nominal asset values while allowing the unit beneath those assets to absorb the adjustment. That is financial repression in its cleanest form. The last quarter century created genuine technological wealth while simultaneously corrupting the ruler used to measure that wealth. Both happened. And that is why people can own assets that are at all-time highs, earn more dollars than ever before, and still have the eerie feeling that they are running harder just to remain in the same place. The numbers went up. The measuring stick got shorter.
