Apart from the Netherlands, France has already moved its remaining 129 tonnes of gold held at the New York Fed, with all of its roughly 2,437 tonnes now held domestically. NEW: 🇲🇩 Moldova’s airspace was violated by five drones overnight on the country’s Independence Day. According to Moldova’s Ministry of Defence, five drones entered Moldovan airspace during the night of August 27, Moldova’s Independence Day, amid ongoing Russian drone attacks against Ukraine. Most of the incursions were recorded around Ștefan Vodă, near Moldova’s border with Ukraine. Several drones briefly entered Moldovan airspace before returning to Ukraine, while another crossed deeper into Moldova before disappearing from monitoring systems near the Transnistrian region. This comes only hours after another unauthorized airspace incursion near Palanca on August 26.

CORRECTION: 🇺🇸 The video circulating does not show the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. It shows the American Center in Moscow, which is located within the U.S. Embassy complex and extremely close to the embassy itself. So the earlier interpretation about the U.S. Embassy flag being removed was incorrect. All of these buildings are located in the same broader U.S. Embassy complex/area in Moscow, which is why they can look connected or be easily confused.

UPDATE | We now have a much clearer picture of what happened in Iraq overnight. Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity has confirmed that judicial arrest warrants are being executed against individuals accused of misappropriating public funds. The Commission says the operation is being conducted strictly under Iraqi law and is the result of coordination between the judicial, executive and legislative authorities. Iraqi state media, citing senior sources, now reports the arrest of MPs Mohammed al-Karbouli and Alia Nassif on corruption charges. This is important: al-Karbouli is a Sunni politician, while Nassif is a prominent Shiite MP. The confirmed names therefore do not support the initial theory of a crackdown directed exclusively against the Sunni opposition. The overnight raids appear to be part of the broader anti-corruption campaign ordered by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, following judicial warrants and investigations that expanded after the detention of former Deputy Oil Minister Adnan al-Jumaili. We should still remain cautious about the much longer lists circulating online. The operation is confirmed, as are some arrests, but the complete list of detainees has not yet been officially released.
