Starlink V3 satellites have >10X bandwidth of V2 and there’ll be >10X launched, which means >100X more bandwidth.
Also, altitude will be 350km vs 550km, so min latency can be cut in half.
Light travels 300km/ms in space, so physics round trip min latency drops to <5ms.
Starlink V3 satellites
Bandwidth per Satellite:
• V2: 96 Gbps
• V3: 1,024 Gbps
Bandwidth per Launch:
V2: 2,600 Gbps
V3: 61,000 Gbps
Deployment per Launch:
• V2: 27 satellites (on Falcon 9)
• V3: 60 (on Starship)
Starlink V3 satellites will begin to be deployed in late 2026 on Starship.
Starship V3 executing a precision-controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean
A giant stainless-steel skyscraper falling back from space, flipping vertical, lighting its engines, and touching down in the ocean with absurd control
This is the kind of thing that used to look like science fiction
Now SpaceX is doing it in the real world
