Big Data Theft at Canvas Online Learning Tool from Shinyhunters hacker group Instructure makes Canvas, which many schools and universities use for online classes. A hacker group called ShinyHunters stole data from about 275 million records across thousands of schools around the world. >The stolen information includes names, personal email addresses, student ID numbers, and messages between students and teachers. >Passwords, birth dates, government ID numbers, and financial details were not taken. Schools are sending messages to affected students, teachers, and staff. The theft impacts users in the United States, Australia, and many other countries. If you use Canvas, watch for official messages from your school, change your password and any others you use the same way, turn on extra login security on all your accounts, and be careful of fake emails that look like they come from your school or Canvas.

Just spoke to one of the big data labeling businesses. Few interesting insights: - They predict the majority of their revenue will come from Fortune 1000 enterprises, not labs in a few years - They believe every company will want to own their intelligence, but owning intelligence does not necessarily mean using open source models - A company’s evals will become their main proprietary IP given the improvement in agent performance after properly setting up & running internal eval environments - Most enterprises haven’t graduated from coding agents and it’s largely due to not having the proper eval infrastructure to make non-Eng agents performant
