Construction crews are undertaking work to prepare for the Boston area’s biggest life sciences move-in: 480,000 square feet across an entire building in Somerville for TransMedics.

Construction has started on a new $650 million @Tesla Megapack battery energy storage facility in Belgium to help power 385,000 homes. The project will use Tesla's next-gen Megablock technology with Megapack version 3. Total storage volume will be 2.8 GWh. This will be one of the largest BESS facilities in Europe. Tesla will handle all engineering, procurement and construction work and will be responsible for the site’s long-term maintenance. According to current planning, the site will be commissioned at the end of March 2028.

Construction productivity has barely moved in decades, while demand for infrastructure, energy projects, and data centers keeps growing. 🚧 During my visit to @GravisRobotics in Zurich, I spoke with CEO Ryan Luke Johns about how the company is tackling this challenge. It's worth to mention that they raised $200M Series A from SoftBank at > 1 billion USD valuation lately! 💰 Their approach is to add an autonomy layer to existing heavy equipment, particularly excavators, helping operators complete more work with the same machines. What makes this especially difficult is that construction robots don't just move through the environment, they constantly change it. Every bucket of soil alters the terrain, and ground conditions can vary from soft dirt to frozen or rocky surfaces. To address this, Gravis uses simulation to model these complex soil dynamics and train autonomous systems to dig efficiently while adapting to changing conditions. Construction on the world's largest ship tunnel, which will allow some cruise ships to pass through, is set to begin in early 2027. The proposed tunnel will be built in Norway and will be over a mile long, 165 feet high, and 120 feet wide. The Stad Ship Tunnel will cut through solid rock on the Stadlandet Peninsula and allow cargo vessels, ferries, and cruise ships to bypass the Stadhavet Sea, some of the most dangerous waters off Norway's coast. 81% of ship traffic will reportedly be able to use the tunnel. 'AF Gruppen' was recently awarded the contract for the tunnel. The construction cost of the tunnel is expected to be about $900 million. It's unclear exactly how long it will take to complete the tunnel; however, the Coastal Administration previously estimated that construction would take about five years.
