decompdev, a website created to track video game decompilation projects and connect the community, is being shut down.
The creator has stopped people from adding new projects because of a recent flood of what they call “vibe coded” decompilations and native ports.
Basically, too many projects were being submitted that rely heavily on AI-generated code rather than genuine reverse-engineering work. This made it harder to keep the site useful and trustworthy.
decompdev was meant to be a central place to see which games were being decompiled, how much progress had been made, and who was working on them.
🇷🇺⚡The decommissioning campaign of Ukraine.
In the first 9 days of July, the Russian MoD destroyed 93 gas stations in Ukraine, that's more than the whole month of June.
The RuMoD should have done this in 2023, but it's never too late. Ukraine's electric facility according to the Ukranian energy ministry will not be able to support the country in winter. Russia has increased strikes against dozens of crucial substations.
Hundreds of AI-decompiled or vibe-coded clones of games appeared in recent weeks, ported to run in browsers; some big titles like GTA: Vice City, Halo play well (Lewis Parker / Kotaku)

Hello computer.
Decompile and distill Grand Theft Auto.
Make the game set in my hometown -- use Google Earth to reconstruct it in pixel-perfect detail.
Make the character me and have my spawn point be in the mansion I always look at on Zillow.
Review my chat memory and make every mission about my hopes and dreams.
Make it playable online so my friends can join.
When you're done, sell all my video games on Ebay and use that money to fund tokens for my next game.
