PS5 users are finding unknown child accounts added to their PSN family lists without permission. Several say it happened even with 2FA on. Some also got emails about sign-in ID or email changes they never made. A few describe the accounts as appearing from overseas. Sony told Sankei Shimbun it is investigating. No broader statement yet. Reports go back to early October. Child accounts can’t be removed as easily as adult ones under Sony’s rules, so cleanup is slower for affected users.

PS5 owners are now running PC games from Steam directly on the console, without streaming. A project called Playden uses a Wine-based compatibility layer to run Windows games on jailbroken PS5 consoles. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Portal 2 and Dead Cells have already been shown running. Playstation has no limits

PS5 users are reporting that some physical games are asking for a system update before they can be played. Several players have shown their consoles asking for an update when they try to launch games from a disc. This is really concerning about physical games becoming dependent on PS5 firmware updates, even when players already own the disc.

PS5 firmware 14.10 might be the next big one for jailbreakers. Developers are currently testing new vulnerabilities on 14.10, and some researchers have managed to get further into the system than before. There are also reports of Debug Settings being accessed on 14.10. Still, there’s no public jailbreak yet. But things are definitely moving.

PS5 emulation is now running on Xbox Series X. The KytyPS5 emulator has been ported to Xbox Series X as a UWP app through Developer Mode. Some PS5 games are already booting with sound and controller support. The Xbox version uses a Direct3D 12 renderer and Mesa’s shader translation to make the PS5 software work on Xbox hardware. Performance is still rough: Astro Bot is around 10 FPS on Xbox right now, so this is definitely not replacing a PS5 yet.

PS5 can now make original PS2 discs feel almost like native games. The PS5SX2 emulator has been updated so a jailbroken PS5 can automatically detect compatible PS2 DVDs and add a game tile directly to the console’s home screen, complete with the game’s cover art. PS5 games are running on PC without official ports. KytyPS5, out last week, is already playing Astro’s Playroom and Demon’s Souls. It lists 134 titles with controllable gameplay. Many still break. AnyPS5 is the different bet. It relinks PS5 code so games run as native PC builds, closer to a porting toolkit than a full emulator. Dead Cells and Dreaming Sarah are the early tests. Most of the library is still not there.

PS5 Pro is facing stock shortages in Japan, and Sony has opened a lottery system for people who want to buy one. To enter you need a Sony account and must have played at least 60 hours of games on PS4, PS5, or both between September 27, 2024 and September 27, 2026. The lottery will be used if there are more applications than available consoles.
