The Journal of the American Medical Association hasn't been able to prove that DTP vaccine is safer than diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. They did a study of about 467,000 kids comparing 2 different DTP vaccines to see if one caused more permanent injury. There wasn't enough evidence with either vaccine to rule out the possibility of increased risk of adverse events resulting in permanent injury.
