When I founded Cambrian at the end of 2024, I believed AI agents would soon play a big role in the future of finance. Because of the permissionless nature of public blockchains, I assumed *onchain* financial applications would gain traction first, with agents coming to regulated finance much later. But the timeline has accelerated. 2025's Clarity Act was the starting gun for institutions to move onchain. Meanwhile, all financial companies have realized that agents will be disruptive and they must begin adopting them now. This convergence has caused us to pivot to better serve the needs of institutions and more RWAs moving onchain.
