Vietnam puts a price on offshore crypto trading
Vietnam wants its traders off foreign exchanges. A new decree fines individuals up to 50 million dong, around $1,900, for trading crypto on platforms the Finance Ministry hasn't licensed. Effective September 1.
First time the country will penalize retail traders directly. Providers and issuers face up to 200 million dong.
Up to five licensed domestic exchanges, with regulated trading, are expected as soon as Q3. A push to pull one of the world's most active crypto markets onshore.
