🇳🇬 JUST IN: Under Pressure, Kenneth Okonkwo Fires Back at Peter Obi, Rejects Defamation Claims Kenneth Okonkwo has formally responded to Peter Obi's defamation allegations, insisting that the claims he made during his Channels TV interview were based on information supplied by an NDC aspirant, Obunike Ohaegbu. In a letter dated June 16, 2026, Okonkwo's lawyers stated that Ohaegbu approached him for help in recovering ₦10 million he allegedly paid after what he described as a “scam orchestrated by Mr Peter Obi and the NDC to defraud him of his money.” The letter further claims that the aspirant told Okonkwo that Peter Obi was “the head of the fraud, the stomach, and feet of it,” and authorized him to publicly disclose the allegations. Okonkwo's legal team also accused Peter Obi of publishing a legal letter containing his personal phone number on social media, describing it as a breach of privacy that allegedly exposed him to harassment and threats. Defending his comments, Okonkwo's lawyers maintained that he was merely “expressing the information he got from his client” and exercising his constitutional right to comment on matters of public interest.
