Jeffries claims Republicans âcut $1 trillion from Medicaidâ and refused to extend ACA tax credits.
Neither claim holds up.
The Medicaid reforms targeted waste: work requirements for able-bodied adults and tighter eligibility so the program isnât used by illegal immigrants or people who donât qualify. Undocumented immigrants were already barred from full benefits. The bill closed loopholes and prioritizes American citizens who actually need it. Medicaid spending still grows.
On the ACA tax credits: the enhanced subsidies Jeffries wants mostly expanded help to higher-income households above 400% of poverty â people the original law never intended to subsidize. Extending them keeps pouring taxpayer money into coverage for those who can afford it while doing little for the poorest.
Democrats call this âaffordable healthcare for every American.â Itâs not.
I have a better plan for affordable healthcare: lower taxes and let Americans decide how to cover themselves.
Republicans cut $1 trillion from Medicaid and refused to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
Democrats are committed to making healthcare affordable for every single American.
Big difference between us and the extremists.
