Running your own Ethereum node is more approachable than you'd think. The BuidlGuidl Client downloads the client executables, starts an execution and consensus pair, and gives you a terminal dashboard for the node and your machine. It runs comfortably on a small box with 32GB of RAM. If you've wanted to stop leaning on someone else's RPC, this is a weekend project.

Need to poke at a contract you didn't write? Paste an address on almost any EVM chain and you get a clean UI to read and write its functions. It pulls the ABI and source from Etherscan for verified contracts, and for unverified ones you can decompile with heimdall or just drop in the ABI yourself. It even autodetects proxy patterns, so you can read and write through them.

The Speedrun Ethereum challenges run on @HardhatHQ 3 now. Same challenges (token vendor, DEX, dice game, prediction markets and the rest), updated so you learn on the toolchain teams actually ship with in 2026: - a Rust runtime that keeps compiles and tests fast - native Solidity tests you can write and run in the challenge itself - local forks of OP Stack and Base to test against Prefer Foundry? Still there. Pick your framework and start your speedrun:

The Speedrun Ethereum guides have a new UI, and there are 24 of them now. They go well past the basics: - ERC-4626 vaults - flash loan exploits - commit-reveal schemes - Chainlink VRF for on-chain randomness - bonding curves for token pricing Redesigned to be easier to read and move between. Thank you to everyone who backed BuidlGuidl in Givethโ€™s Ethereum Security QF round. We received $1,649 in donations and 3.95 ETH from the matching pool. The funding has supported work across our open-source Ethereum dev-tooling and learning stack: โ€ข Foundry support across every Speedrun Ethereum challenge โ€ข Hardhat v3 migrations for Scaffold-ETH 2 and Speedrun Ethereum challenges โ€ข Improve our agent-ready documentation, enhancing agents discoverability โ€ข Shipped our web AI Teaching Assistant, now available in every Speedrun Ethereum challenge Weโ€™re also building Learning Lab: a new, more accessible education experience for people who want to start building on Ethereum, even without a coding background. Thank you @thedaofund, @quantstamp, @wintermute_t, and @Giveth for making this possible ๐Ÿฐ

create-eth ships @HardhatHQ 3 out of the box now. What you get: - Rust-based EDR for fast local EVM execution - Built-in, Foundry-compatible Solidity tests with fuzzing and invariant testing - Local OP Mainnet and Base forks with first-class OP Stack support Scaffold the whole dApp with one command: npx create-eth@latest

Solidity error handling, by gas cost: โ€ข `require(cond, "msg")` โ€” ~50 gas per byte in the message string โ€ข `revert SomeError(arg)` โ€” ~22 gas per call + a 4-byte selector Etherscan decodes named errors with their args. require strings are just opaque bytes in the revert data.

Challenge 1: Crowdfunding. The exercise: โ€ข Write a campaign contract with a goal and a deadline โ€ข Funders pay in, the contract holds ETH โ€ข On success: creator withdraws โ€ข On failure: funders get a refund

Events vs state, rule of thumb: โ€ข Frontend needs to know it happened โ†’ emit an event โ€ข Contract needs to act on it later โ†’ write state
