Chinese Scientist Wins Country's First William Nordberg Medal
On August 3 at the 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Florence, Dr. Wang Jinsong received the prestigious William Nordberg Medal, one of the highest honors awarded by the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), making him the first Chinese scientist to win the award.
Honored alongside NASA scientist David Sibeck, Dr. Wang also had an asteroid named after him. As chief designer of Fengyun Meteorological Satellites, his pioneering work led China’s space weather monitoring system from scratch to international leadership, with Fengyun satellite data now serving 139 countries and regions.
