What, for goodness sake, is our national airline Air Zimbabwe doing leasing an aircraft from a company Plus Ultra which has been subject to criminal investigations by the Spanish police? Spain’s National Police searched Plus Ultra’s Madrid headquarters on 11 December 2025 as part of a money-laundering investigation. Prosecutors are investigating whether funds linked to corruption involving Venezuela, including allegations relating to the CLAP food programme and gold transactions, were laundered through financial transactions involving Plus Ultra. These remain allegations under investigation, not proven facts. Nevertheless our national airline should never have contracted with such a company as it reflects badly on Air Zimbabwe and our Nation as a whole. Furthermore it raises serious questions about the state of the aircraft leased. We demand answers from Government.

The @_AfricanUnion makes us the laughing stock of the world when it issues a statement with Russia that : “8. The two sides call for strict adherence to international law and the UN Charter in its entirety as the bedrock of international relations to maintain peace, resolve disputes peacefully and uphold sovereign equality.” What part of international law has been respected by Russia’s invasion and attempted annexure of entire swathes of Ukraine? The African Union is doing all Africans a disservice by this ridiculous statement and its policy of studiously ignoring Russia’s grotesque acts in Ukraine.
