What's the penalty for officials who repeatedly violate our Constitutional rights?
There are clear and obvious penalties for every day citizens breaking the law, even if they do so by accident.
But it seems that the most we can hope for when our esteemed leaders assault our rights is that a court will halt their misdeeds. But there's no penalty attached to this, and nothing to prevent them from just trying again. Consequently, government has gradually accrued more power and gradually eroded civil liberties.
This is where we're at after 250 years without tar and feathers.
There needs to be immediate and severe penalties for government officials who propose, execute, and enforce law thats is repugnant to the Constitution. ๐
