Money spent by you in a free market:
- Goes to businesses that satisfy your needs
- Gets withdrawn when products disappoint
- Rewards efficiency and innovation
- Punishes waste through bankruptcy
- Creates wealth by voluntary exchange
Money spent by government:
- Goes to bureaucrats who never met you
- Continues flowing regardless of results
- Rewards political connections
- Punishes efficiency through red tape
- Redistributes wealth through force
Politicians call the second one "public service."
Tax rate should be renamed to theft rate.
