EXCL: A Labour MP has been accused of raiding a historic cafe’s fridge on a trip to Normandy to mark the anniversary of D-Day. Amanda Martin is said to have started helping herself to food at the Café Gondrée, the first place liberated by the Allies during the landings in 1944. Portsmouth’s Ms Martin was one of two Labour backbenchers hauled in by Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle after Parliament’s Armed Forces Scheme’s visit last June. Samantha Niblett was also spoken to over her behaviour after missing the ferry over to France and then reportedly clashing with the organisers. Both MPs are understood to insist the respective incidents are “misunderstandings”. Full story
