It is completely unjust to subject young men to such brutality when they are staging a protest. If they resort to violence or violate rules, they should certainly be arrested, but what is the justification for a lathicharge? It is reminiscent of British rule where anyone speaking up for their rights or protesting against issues like paper leaks would face a lathicharge, much like what happened during the protests against the Simon Commission.
