Thousands of Christians have been killed in Nigeria, and in countries such as India, Pakistan, and China, Christians and other religious minorities have continued to face serious persecution. Because of this, I believe the Trump administration should move quickly to appoint an Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom through a presidential nomination, followed by Senate confirmation. I also think Andrea Picciotti-Bayer, who has been actively involved in defending religious freedom issues, is a strong candidate for this role and is well-versed in the challenges facing persecuted communities around the world.
