I sincerely ask all my friends, especially those with large followings, to share this post. It is about my family's survival.
For the first time in months, I am asking for help for my own family. This is incredibly difficult for me because, throughout these past months, I risked my life in some of the most dangerous places to help families in need, always putting the suffering of others before my own.
But today, it is my family that is facing unbearable hardship. My debts keep growing, the rent is weighing heavily on me, and the cost of simply surviving has become more than I can bear. My mind is constantly overwhelmed as I search for any way to provide for my family.
My family and I are going through one of the hardest times of our lives. Today, I am asking you not to leave me alone in this struggle. Please don't let me down, my friends. I need your support now more than ever.
I opened an old Facebook account of mine a short while ago, one I hadn’t accessed for a long time. It contained my old school friends and childhood friends those we once believed life would bring us together with again at any time.
But the moment I opened it, I was shocked.
Facebook was no longer the same. Most of the posts were about martyrdom, about friends we used to laugh with who are now gone, about fathers sharing memories of their sons, and mothers writing about children who never came back. The account that once held beautiful photos and memories had turned into an endless book of mourning.
I had no idea they had all died like this. I always thought time would reunite us again someday, that it was only a delay, nothing more. But I discovered that many of them had their lives end suddenly, in moments no one expected.
Some of them were killed while on their way to bring flour for their families from aid distribution points and they never returned. They left in search of a loaf of bread, and came back only in the news, or not at all.
I sat in front of the screen in long silence… childhood friends who were once part of my life had become names on obituary posts, memories suspended in a silent space that does not respond.
It wasn’t just the loss of people… it was the loss of a whole part of life itself, of memory, of the path we once thought we would continue together.
I don’t know whether the world is truly aware or is deliberately turning a blind eye to what is happening right now in Gaza.
But this is exactly how they are planning the so called “New Gaza” they keep talking about.
They want to impose oppressive camps inside the city, disguised as fake natural reserves, surrounded by harsh barbed wire that prevents anyone from leaving as if they are caging an entire population inside iron enclosures under the sky.
This is the “future” they are planning: tightly sealed prisons, all under the name of reconstruction.
There are some pieces of news that are hard to believe even after hearing them. This is one of them.
The announcement that there may be no place for UNRWA in what is being called the “new Gaza” has left me in shock. For nearly 20 years, my family has relied on the services provided by UNRWA, while our story as refugees began with the displacement of my grandparents during the 1948 Nakba.
It feels as though an entire chapter of our lives could be coming to an end, yet we have no idea what will come next. Every day brings new announcements and new uncertainty, but no one knows what Gaza’s future will look like or what will happen to the hundreds of thousands of families who have depended on UNRWA’s services for decades.
All we know today is that the uncertainty continues to grow, and with every new announcement, so does our fear of an unknown future.
One of the most horrific scenes in human history has been leaked.
When Israel forced thousands in Gaza to run after a loaf of bread under gunfire.
A moment the world should never forget.
