This play happened a couple of years ago in a regional final matchup. Unique to say the least.
A single up the middle to center field. One run scores. The center fielder charges and throws home. The second runner is coming in to score. The runner slides, the catcher swipes at his arm, was he safe or out?
The issue here is the runner who scored before stays behind home plate and is waving for the next runner to get down. The home plate umpire bumps into him, trips, and falls down and doesn’t see the play. 🤯
You can defer to the field umpire but if he didn’t see it, what call can you make? 🤷♂️
Some said the runner should be out because the player who scored first interfered with the home plate umpire.
I have never seen a play like this.
What do you think? What’s the call? Safe or out?
