BofA equity and quant strategist Savita Subramanian raised the firm's year-end S&P 500 target to 7,400 from 7,100, implying 3% downside from current levels.
Stocks are entering a "seasonally weak period" and are "overdue for a pullback," the strategist contends.
The S&P has had one 5% pullback this year versus the typical three per year. according to BofA. It adds that 10%-plus corrections happen once per year on average, and that the last was Spring of 2025.
The firm is cautious on the market due to inflation, the Federal Reserve, earnings quality, and credit risk.
