For #Romans#, 1st August was the anniversary of the Temple of Spes in the Forum Holitorium. Spes was Goddess of Hope & widely worshiped. You can still see the remains of her Temple, perhaps an echo of her hope for us today, in the walls of the San Nicola in Carcere church in Rome.
