What going viral on X brought my Paperroute Astra experiement Across two posts: • 17,930 likes • 870 comments • 5,198 registered players • Roughly 196 “it’s shit” comments • 1 death threat • 1 “hope you kill yourself” Roughly 91 likes for every “it’s shit”. Funny thing was I only released it because the first video got such good feedback and people wanted to play it. So I sunk 48hours into making it playable. The interesting part was how virality changed the response… Up to around 1m views, the first 600 or so comments were mainly positive. But then the floodgates opened. Replies became pretty much only negative, from a seemingly anti-ai crowd. The negativity seemed to fuel more views, which brought more hostility, and more views It felt like two stages of virality: first people sharing something they enjoyed, then people gathering around something they hated. Both kept the video moving. For the most part nothing useful came after the first million views
