Can very much relate to founders’ VC hate when I hop on one of those “want to talk to your lead investor” calls for a portco, and realize the other VC is basically outsourcing their entire DD process. Your job is literally to think dude.

As a pre-seed investor, my job is to be bullish. But it seems I'm dissenting many of the hottest trends these days — from HYPE, to Pre-IPO, and about to for prediction markets. How I feel now about HYPE, Pre-IPO, and prediction markets is how I felt about the urgency — or rather, the societal frenzy — over the Metaverse, Terra, and FTX days. There's a concept of yin and yang in Chinese Daoism — also in Vadim Zeland's Transurfing, called the "Pendulum". When something swings to the extreme, something's bound to happen as a balancing force to restore the balance. I'm waiting and watching.

I’m sorry but I just don’t buy 2/3 of these takes 1. We are close to top for prediction market - and prediction market is doing ungodly damage to the society that there has to be a regulatory course correct soon. 2. Okay 3. Staked media won’t happen because I don’t see passive viewers turn into active stakers when attention is already scarce + friction is high.

Never let a crisis go to waste: a mental model for conviction during painful moments like this in crypto. You make money by being rightfully aggressive when others are fearful. But how do I know if DeFi is a falling knife or a local dip? Here are simple / perhaps left-curve questions to think through: 1. Is crypto here to stay? 2. Will demand for permissionless, onchain finance persist? 3. Will DeFi security learn and improve from this? 1 and 2 are a resounding yes. 3 is still a work in progress. The real issue is founder mentality. DeFi builders need to start thinking like money managers rather than tech founders. But once resolved, tests like this will push DeFi to the next stage — and I’m here for it.
