Nathan Ahn, CTO of @joinswsh, is a spicy beta tester. We didn't know that when we hopped on a call to discuss his experience with an early version of our new Observability service.
He was amazed by how effortless it was to install Observe and immediately start learning from the metrics. Selfishly it would be have been great to tell the story of some horrible performance regression they caught with the service. But so far Observe has shown them that TTI and Load Times are consistently fast.
Nathan said, "Observe hasn't caught any big performance issues yet. But I do sleep better at night."

"This data is great, but I don't know what most of it means." We heard that a lot.
There were over 6,000 people in the Observe beta and we talked to as many of them as we could. At Expo we're all nerds who eat, sleep and breathe mobile dev so it was a bit surprising to us that so many people were unfamiliar with the mobile performance metrics. But it makes sense - and we're glad you told us.
We made this simple guide to mobile app startup metrics to explain the meaningfulness of stuff like: TTI, TTR, Bundle Load, Launch Time...ect.
Groking these metrics will serve you and your users well.

BTW the Hermes v1 memory regression is fixed.
If you moved to SDK 56 or 57, watched memory climb, and rolled back - the coast is clear now to upgrade.
The issue was resolved in expo@57.0.9. React Native 0.86.2 carries the fix.

the expo issue/pr verification flow has been been working great for us!
you can do this all today with expo, eas, and tools like agent-device and argent and we're are working on tying it all together in a way that feels right out of the box. like always, it'll be fully flexible to let you assemble the primitives into whatever works best for your projects.
giving your agent the ability to verify its work and provide that as evidence to a human is an absolute requirement for building mobile apps with agents. at @expo we're dedicated to discovering how to best build for mobile in the era of agents.

Pretty sure this year's #Shipaton# winner was at our meetup last night in Seattle. Not going to tag him and blow up his spot. But the app is 🤯.
We changed the format of the event to have one banger talk and then everyone builds. There were teams breaking ground on new apps and solo devs hacking away on their existing projects.
