There's something about old Appalachian music that's different.
A lot of these songs weren't written to entertain people.
They came from people who lived hard lives, buried loved ones, leaned on their faith, and knew death wasn't some distant idea, it was part of everyday life.
It doesn't sound polished. It doesn't sound rehearsed.
It sounds like something that's been sitting in those mountains for a hundred years, waiting for someone to sing it again.
