Innovation Council President Taylor @Budowich to @mboyle1 on President Trump's support for data centers: He doesn't let bad politics and a scared media dictate how he governs or how he he thinks. The president oftentimes is ahead of the curve, and this is an area specifically where this administration has really worked to support local communities, like with the Ratepayer Protection Plan, where he got these large companies together to say we're we're going to guarantee your your electricity bill doesn't go up. He has unleashed Lee Zeldin at the EPA, allowing communities to build energy resources that have long been overdue. President Trump said we we gotta win, and by winning it means winning for you. It means your electricity bill is better. It means that the development should be happening in the community that previously hasn't been invested in. And so you know, what do we learn from Donald Trump? I think we can learn a whole lot. But you can start by not being scared of a bad idea, and being willing to stand up, and being willing to grapple with with a conversation, listen to somebody, and be bold in good policy.

Innovation Council President @Budowich lays out how to deal with concerns about data centers. Start by listening to people’s concerns—and take them seriously. Good policy is good politics. And good policy is: not a single shovel should go in the ground, and not a single slab of concrete should be laid for a data center that drains the surrounding community. The only data centers that should be built are the ones that power the community. Then tell the story. Many data centers, especially in red states are doing just that--often in towns that have been abandoned by politicians for decades.
