During the Holocaust, Jews still fought to maintain normal life where they could, with clandestine schools operating in ghettos, concerts took place, religious ceremonies, birthday celebrations and marriages — and Anne Frank is the perfect parallel to the ‘vloggers’ of today’s Gaza (she just didn’t have social media, obviously). The same applied in Rwanda and Bosnia — people were trying to document the crimes being committed in the best way they had access to at the time, while trying to maintain pockets of normal life in spite of the dangers.
