The interesting theme from the Jony Ive interview was that product developers should be less focused on metrics and instead infuse their values in the products. Indirectly, this was a jab at frameworks used in the development of social products—or essentially: how Facebook is run. But the thing that Apple has never done exceptionally well is social. This is because they are actually serving the wrong “customer” when they build social features: Instead of the user, they need to be squarely focused on building for the benefit of the network. And those solutions usually can’t be inferred by empathy, but rather numbers. On the surface, some decisions can look outright user-hostile. For example, urging users to import contacts or follow people. But for the incremental burden it puts on the user, it yields 100x value to the collective network. You can certainly infuse your values into social products and be less metric focused, but those values should be closer to that of a communist dictator vs. empathetic therapist.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If NPR is as special and popular as they claim, they should have no trouble being privately funded. They can be as liberal and radical as they want, but not on the hardworking American taxpayer's dollar. Their reaction to being defunded says it all—they know that without taxpayers propping them up, there is no real audience for their anti-American propaganda.

I've talked to dozens of crypto founders over the last few weeks about token launches. The common theme is that launching a coin today is more opaque, more extractive, and less fair than an IPO. It's embarrassing for an industry that professes transparency and fairness.
