There is this bad habit on Indian twitter of focusing too much on diplomatic lip-service, meaningless protocol, humanitarian aid, domestic appeasement etc and making a mountain of an ant hill Missing the woods for the trees.

Most exciting thing about #WheelOfTime# so far is that it actually seems to have gained enough traction to go all the way. This is the first fantasy series since GoT that has had such positive praise for the show that it has almost completely drowned out the negative criticisms. https://t.co/UgtH3yXxmI

NO. Deterrant works when everyone accepts. if only one side accepts, the other side must adopt the same principle or else risk extinction. even though we all know non violence is paramount, if one side gives up weapons and the other side doesnt - the certificate of honor is not going to save the former side when the latter attacks. what might save the former side is not giving up weapons. so such things are never done as a gesture. it should be done as a treaty where both sides agree to it , together on a common platform. proactive gestures are done by the weak or the stupid.

i think we should give up the charade of upholding democracy. both sides want democracy only when they are not in power and fascism when they ARE in power. One should just accept and normalize this thought. There is no need to expect democracy at all when it is just an excuse. one should accept and understand that fascism is how it is and always will be.

While many on RW twitter will argue that Rajeev Chandrasekar is a parachuted candidate, I am all for it. Without a candidate who has statewide name recognition, party will not be able to mobilize voters for the party. Let's see if @RajeevRC_X is able to break UDF-LDF see saw in Kerala or not!

I don't think and politician or celeb here can prove their credentials on issue of free speech. Literally everyone would justify action when it suits their side and will oppose it when it doesn't. In any mature democracy free speech up to certain extent is protected by law, not sure when we will reach that level of maturity.

#WATCH# | On Kunal Kamra row, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora says, "Let me say one thing very clearly, comedy is an essential form of any society. Balasaheb Thackeray himself was a cartoonist, he himself believed in using comedy and humour. But there is a huge difference between being a classist, elitist, paid agent, trying to bail out a party. That is facing a case in Bombay High Court by a girl who died under mysterious circumstances by her own father. Nowadays, a new trend is to protect entitled monarchists who preach about democracy and meritocracy, is to use classist and elitist under the garb of liberalism. This has been exposed earlier when people tried to mock Narendra Modi because he came from a very humble background and he rose to become PM of the world's largest democracy. In the same way, they are trying to mock a man who came from nothing and rose to become CM of the country's second largest state. These people have been rejected by the people of Maharashtra and the people of India and it is very clear who these people are working for and why they are working for them."

Someone needs to convince Modi ji that the biggest legacy he can leave behind is to be the PM who funded enough R&D that got India a capable jet engine. The day India achieves a capable jet engine is the day India will truly achieve engineering independence!

Inflation adjusted means that the Rangarajan poverty line is much higher now than it was 13 years back. As of 2023-24, for all India: Rs 1940 (rural) Rs 2759 (urban) Which means that for a family of 4 in urban area, if they spend less than Rs.11,036 per month then they are poor.

In 2014, Senator Chris Murphy bragged about the United States successfully overthrowing Ukraine's government: "I think it was our role, including sanctions and threats of sanctions, that forced, in part, Yanukovych from office." "We have not sat on the sidelines. We have been very much involved. Members of the Senate have been there. Members of the State Department have been on the Square." "The Obama administration passed sanctions. The Senate was prepared to pass its own set of sanctions, and as I've said, I think that the clear position of the United States has, in part, been what has helped lead to this change in regime." "If, ultimately, this is a peaceful transition to a new government in Ukraine, it will be the U.S. on the streets of Ukraine who will be seen as a great friend in helping make that transition happen." "There is a U.S. interest here. We are in the middle of negotiating a new trade agreement with Europe. To my state, it's enormously important. We do 40% of our trade in Connecticut with Europe." "If Ukraine is part of the EU and thus is part of this new trade agreement with the United States, that could result in billions of dollars in new economic opportunities for the U.S." "So, we do have an economic interest in Ukraine being a part of the EU, and we shouldn't be shy about making that interest clear."

Well, we in India knew this already. The DS run world media networks and indices kept hiding it to influence local politics. Now it is time they no longer can. Extreme poverty in India has been eradicated as per World Bank International, USD based standards. Not even our rupee based or local standard. And as for poverty, in 2013 - India had 50% poverty according to World Bank. 2024 it was just 15%. Huge reduction in poverty in just a decade. Monumental achievement bringing hundreds of millions out of poverty by India. When it was China in 2010s, the whole world celebrated and commeded their achievement using their own numbers due to China's sponsorship of DS media. For India, a democracy with a lot of issues faced by govt implementing economic reforms, where numbers and estimates can be done by anyone, they find it even hard to even acknowledge. Anyway, this is for the naysayers and pessimists in India who only trust the Economist and other DS media about India. Go read the report if you want. India has eradicated extreme poverty and reduced overall poverty by a whopping 35% in just 10 years. Give some credit where it is due. After all, it is your country.
