Meanwhile, the individuals who contributed the data — the real asset holders — had no ownership, no share of the value, and no say in its usage. And in October 2023, a credential-stuffing attack compromised about 14,000 user accounts (~0.1 % of customers) but exposed profile data linked to 6.9 million people via the DNA Relatives feature — including many who had never bought a kit themselves.
