About a year ago, someone rear ended me in my old Model Y. I submitted a claim with their insurance company, and uploaded footage from both the front and rear cameras. Because they clearly saw that their insured driver rear ended me via the trunk camera, and saw from the dash cam that I was correctly stopped for traffic, they claimed liability immediately and processed my claim faster than I’ve ever had any insurance claim processed. When I talked to the agent, he specifically noted my footage as the reason why they’ve immediately claimed liability.
It’s not just “dash cam,” it’s 360 cam. The car records every angle using cameras that come stock with the vehicle. You don’t have to buy any accessory or fish a dash cam wire through the car’s trim. You don’t have to add it as an option. This is built into every Tesla by default.
Little stuff like this means a lot.
