Here's why any discussion about gun laws is a giant joke. Why was a man who had been on ASIO’s watch list - for years - allowed anywhere near a firearms licence? He was licensed in New South Wales. His terrorist act was in NSW. The NSW Firearms Act alteady says that a firearms licence can be revoked if a person is not considered “fit and proper” or if it is “contrary to the public interest”. Do you think Sajid Akram was a “fit and proper person”? Did ASIO? Was Sajid Akram owning firearms “contrary to the public interest?” Ya think? Enough laws were already there. And there was a failure to properly regulate them. This was a policing and intelligence failure at every level. We don't need more laws we need apologies and resignations.
